I haven't visited the JohnCow.com site in a few days so I dropped by today. The contest really interests me but I wasn't participating - just observing.

Then I saw the unbelievable figure - $27,000 in prizes. I blinked, rubbed my eyes and refreshed my screen.

Yup. I was reading it correctly.

Gulp!

I guess I better start participating.

So I signed up right away and started doing the things required for points. I was amazed at the simplicity of the tasks:

1. Join the email RSS feed (the first requirement) (1 ticket)
3. Twitter a Post and link to JohnCow.com (4 tickets)
2. Twitter about the contest and Follow John Cow's Twitter (10 tickets)
4. Write a blog post linking back to John Cow's website. (25 tickets)
5. Make a video about the contest and post on YouTube. (50 tickets)

I was curious about how the winner for the prizes would be selected and found this comment answer made by the big cheese, John Cow, himself:

What is going to happen is everyone's name with the amount of tickets they have will be put into a post. Everyone will have a chance to see that they have the associated points they earned.

Once this is verified, then each name will be given a number and we will be recording the draw so everyone can see that it is 100% legitimate.

What we will do is draw one number at a time and in order and it will be a first come, first serve basis. That means they can pick what ever prize they want.

If you have one ticket and your name is picked, you only get the one prize. If you have 49 tickets you can essentially win all the prizes… which i doubt will happen.

Everything is going to be completely transparent.

Okay - I have a chance to win one of the awesome prizes just by telling you about the contest. $27,000!  I still can't believe it.
