How to Drive Traffic to Your Websites through Blogs

Blogs are one of the most critical tools today to help generate traffic for your websites. Because of their essential design, blogs make it easier for website owners to interact with old, existing, and prospective customers and do so more frequently. For first-time online business owners, having a blog is a great start-up tool to generate traffic for their websites.

How to Use Blogs as a Start-Up Tool to Generate Traffic for Your Website

Tip #1 When creating a blog, remember that he title of your blog must be similar with your website’s URL so that readers will immediately notice the connection between them. Your blog description should likewise make mention of your website and what they can get when they visit it. Lastly, take advantage of your profile settings to promote your website and don’t forget to include your website with the displayed set of links on your blog.

Tip #2 Your username must either be your real name or something distinctive and related to your website’s main topic. This will make it easier for your readers to recall what your blog and website’s about without the help of their bookmarks or even search engines.

Tip #3 As much as possible, entry titles must contain keywords you’ve also used in your website. The content of your entries should also contain a brief paragraph connecting the post to your website, together with an invitation to visit your website.

Tip #4 Generating traffic for your website through blogging is just like going out on a date. Avoid acting like a tease, but don’t give away everything either. Give them more than a taste of what you have to offer through your blog entries, but if they want the whole package, make it clear they’d have to visit your website to get it.

Tip #5 Submit your blog to blog directories. Any chance that could increase the readership base of your blog also means a proportional increase for generating traffic to your website. Make sure you submit the same set of information for your blog to all blogging directories. It will help in improving your blog’s search engine ranking.

Tip #6 Make good use of trackbacks. If you are writing a post related to any of your previous entries, trackbacks will let readers easily locate those entries. Also, consider writing a series of posts. Instead of giving the whole cake in one sitting, feature one piece each post and have your readers come back next time for the succeeding pieces. The more time people spend on your blog, the greater chances you’ll have to convince them to visit your website.

Tip #7 Get a guestbook for people who have visited your website and blog. Post the link on your blog and make sure you get to approve entries before they’re displayed. The positive entries on your guestbook could help convince readers to visit your website, too.

Tip #8 Start circulating. If you post regular comments on other people’s blogs, they’ll usually return the favor. Readers from their blogs may use your link to visit your blog, too – if they like what you’re saying, that is. When they do then there’s also a chance they’d be interested in visiting your website.
